Dr. Hualan Chen receives the 2016 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Award

The CEIRS Network congratulates Dr. Hualan Chen, who has been named the Asia/Pacific laureate of the 2016 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards. Dr. Chen is a professor at the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute in China, a part of the Emory-UGA Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance (CEIRS). She is recognized “For her outstanding research into the biology of the flu virus, leading to the development and use of an effective vaccine.” Created in 1998, the L’Oréal Foundation and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have partnered to recognize five outstanding women researchers in the Life Sciences, each from one of the following regions: Africa and the Arab States, Asia/Pacific, Europe, Latin America, and North America. The awards ceremony will take place on 24 March 2016 at the Grand Amphitheater of the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
